New Noise

CALLING THE MUSIC MAKERS OF TOMORROW!

Do you LOVE music, want to develop your playing or give new instruments a try?
Want to meet, jam and collaborate with likeminded music makers?
Want to learn how to mix live sound + lighting?
Up for playing live at Future Yard?!

If the answer to any of these is YES then get yourself to the New Noise Music Centre!

New Noise Music Centre is here to support the next generation of music makers. This is a space for young people aged 11-16 to experiment across a range of instruments and music-making techniques. Try your hand at guitar, bass, keyboards, drums and singing in sessions led by our team of hugely experienced and passionate tutors. And if you want to try your hand at the production side of things, you can take your turn behind the mixing desk and get a taster of live sound and lighting.

The New Noise project is all about exploring the music that young people love, across a range of genres, including rock, pop, electronic, hip hop, jazz and everything in between. And we’ve now got specific session for 11-13s and 14-16s, with a new expanded version of the New Noise course.

New Noise Music Centre Future Yard

Held at Future Yard on Saturday daytimes, the New Noise Music Centre will include:

– Large group sessions focussed on guitar, bass, drums, keys and vocals
– Small group jams to explore composition, collaboration and performance
– Individual workshops to focus on improving skills on specific instruments
– Regular performance opportunities and a huge end of term show at Future Yard!
PLUS An introduction to sound and lighting mixing desks for those who want to try something new

Participants are encouraged to try as many disciplines as possible, with an opportunity to focus on a particular instrument ahead of a live show at Future Yard at the end of term. Complete beginners and experienced players are all welcome. All we ask is you come with an openness to collaborate, try new things and make some noise!

New Noise Club

NEW NOISE CLUB <18

Several times a year we also host matinée live shows for under-18s under the banner of New Noise Club <18. These shows are specifically designed to be enjoyed by under-18s, headlined by touring artists in dry bar shows that start at 12.30pm. Each show is ticketed and tickets are not available to adults (but parents can attend with their children – we just ask them to stay at the back or outside the live room to create a comfortable space for the young people). Each of these NNC<18 shows will also feature one of our New Noise Music Centre artists as support, as a great chance to perform on our live room stage to a full audience.
