WAX + GEARS | Future Yard

A PEDAL-POWERED, OFF GRID MUSIC CARNIVAL

Introducing WAX + GEARS, a pedal-powered, off-grid Music Carnival, as part of LIMF Festival Fringe.

WAX + GEARS, a one-day festival of emerging music, sustainable practice and climate activism, all taking place in an off-grid, pedal powered arena within our large outdoor garden space at Future Yard. Drawing together the ideas of music discovery, vinyl culture, cycling, DIY, analogue and with an eco-conscious aesthetic, Wax + Gears will be a platform based around community, collective enrichment and celebration.

The event will be completely off-grid, with all power generated by a bank of dynamo bikes adjacent to the stage. The audience will be encouraged to ‘keep the pedals turning so the records keep on spinning!’ throughout the day.

Live music from a diverse range of Merseyside artists, the kaleidoscopic, experimental bedroom pop of Podge, Munkey Junkey‘s lofi hip-hop and the diy Seagoth, along with spoken word from Bea Albanese and Olive and a DJ set from FY favourite Subcora. Plus a very special guest DJ set from Louisa Roach (She Drew The Gun).

There will also be a special Wirral Joy Ride with Peloton Cooperative Liverpool as part of this event (see details below).

This is a free event. No tickets required.

WAX + GEARS

WAX + GEARS is part our Sustainability Roadmap, launched in March 2022 and produced in partnership with LJMU’s Low Carbon Eco Innovatory. At the heart of the plan is a move to encouraging our audiences to move away from cars and towards active travel through dynamic and creative conversations.

You can find out more about Future Yard’s Sustainability Roadmap with this short video here, created in partnership with Ecotricity earlier this year.

JOY RIDE @ WAX + GEARS

1pm start, Future Yard Garden
Finishing back at Future Yard for Wax + Gears

As part of this Sunday’s WAX + GEARS pedal-powered carnival in our garden at Future Yard, we have teamed up with the marvellous PELOTON COOPERATIVE; a local community initiative dedicated to promoting safe, accessible bike use. Peloton will be leading one of their infamous JOY RIDES from Future Yard at 1pm, finishing back in time for the start of Wax + Gears.

Joy Rides are all about exploration and discovering our cultural fabric, offering insights into its points of celebration and struggles. This is done through a fun ride, sound tracked by music along the way, engaging with architecture, people’s stories and those who are working to address its social and structural issues. Check out a previous Wirral Joy Ride HERE.

The ride is a medium distance, lasting roughly 1-1.5hrs. All abilities welcome. Sign-up now!

Places on the ride are limited and must be booked in advance. To take part, follow this link and sign-up via the Spond app.
