HANNAH PEEL
We are thrilled to be welcoming acclaimed artist, composer, producer and broadcaster Hannah Peel to Future Yard on Thursday 28th September, as she performs her Mercury Music Prize shortlisted album, Fir Wave, for us in Birkenhead. An artist that navigates synthesisers, electronics, classical orchestral work, hand punched music boxes and unique sound world compositions, with this 2021 LP Hannah explores a sonic shimmer of textures and pulses that switches between raw atmospheric edges and environments you can soon enjoy in the comfort of our live room.
Tickets on sale now.
With a career spanning solo records plus film and television soundtracks, following her Emmy-nominated score for Game Of Thrones: The Last Watch, Hannah’s soundtrack for TV psychological thriller, The Deceived< won a 2022 Royal Television Society NI award and the Music Producers Guild “Best UK original Score Recording of 2021”. A regular collaborator with Paul Weller, she has conducted and scored orchestral arrangements for his shows and live album at London’s ‘Royal Festival Hall’ and contributed arrangements to his recent no.1 album’s On Sunset and Fat Pop. In April 2022 Hannah released a new, critically acclaimed album The Unfolding with Paraorchestra – the world’s only disabled and non-disabled integrated orchestra which went straight to No.1 in the UK Classical Charts. She recently won a Music Producers’ Guild award for her work on the album.
She joins us in support of the critically acclaimed solo work ‘Fir Wave‘ where the process of re-sampling and generating her own new digital instruments allowed for fresh inspiration in pioneering, experimental electronics from the early 1970s to be at the core of the album. On Fir Wave, Peel made connections and new patterns that mirror the Earth’s ecological cycles through music. Or as Elizabeth Alker (Unclassified BBC Radio 3) puts it: “The sound of nature’s internally evolving patterns and cycles, green shoots and roots wrapping themselves around vintage analogue effects and made to sound like a 21st Century arboretum rave”
