Independent Venue Week 2023

We are thrilled to be hosting Leeds indie heavyweights English Teacher on our stage on Wednesday 1st February 2023, as part of IVW 2023. The quartet join us following the release of their debut EP Polyawkward in the spring, a collection of tracks steeped in alt-rock sensibilities and politically-charged lyricism. Showcasing the group’s limitless potential in full flow, the EP is spearheaded by the mammoth lead track Good Grief, vivid follow-up A55, and exhilarating latest effort Mental Maths. Detailing their EP, enigmatic bandleader Lily Fontaine revealed: “Polyawkward is a journey of self discovery around supermarkets, along pub crawls, through lockdowns, space, time, hooks and wonk.” Experience the wonk in all its glory live with us in February.

Support on the night comes from Manchester band and Nice Swan signees Splint, with one more artist to be announced.
