DO NOTHING | Future Yard | Future Yard

We welcome Do Nothing to Birkenhead on Friday 24th January as part of our Onomatoposter Launch Night. With all of the shows on the rest of the dates on their 2025 tour selling out quickly, this show remains the only date where you can currently catch them live.

They’re a quartet that all met in secondary school in Nottingham and played in bands together before forming Do Nothing and debuting in 2018 with Waitress followed closely by Handshakes. Their influences are diverse, from Spoon, Deerhoof and LCD Soundsystem back to The Pop Group, Tom Waits and Simon & Garfunkel – a mix which may well explain why their sound is continually evolves in unexpected directions. There’s also an ethos of letting the music speak for itself, a quality heightened by their appreciation of artists who feel accessible and real rather than the grandeur of a rock star. Their rise took shape with two EPs, Five Dollar Bill and Glueland, before Snake Sideways was released in 2023. Now they join us as they begin their next stage, recently unveiling the stand alone new single Summer Of Hate – their first new music since the album was released.

DO NOTHING

ONOMATOPOSTER

We’re over the moon to be welcoming back the incredible Onomatoposter exhibition for 2025. Once again we are working with Toucan Tango to host an incredible exhibition of flatstock poster art to the walls of our Gallery space, the perfect way to kick off the new year. Printmakers and designers Toucan Tango are firmly embedded in this world, a global movement of artists whose love for music spills over into a rich world of gig poster design.

The exhibition launches on this night, with the gallery open from 6pm prior to the show, and running until the end of March 2025. Onomatoposter takes over our Future Walls gallery space in the bar area – and spilling into the Live Room for this weekend only. What better way to prepare for a live show than feasting your eyes on some of the finest screen print show artwork from across the world. All prints will be available to purchase, and many are rare or limited edition prints. There will also be a special, limited edition piece of print deigned for this show.

There will also be a print market on Saturday 25th January, 11am to 5pm. Here you’ll be able to browse through even more of Toucan Tango’s archive of prints from across the flatstock design world, with some exclusive designs, one-offs, re-prints and discount items.
