Deaf School

We’re delighted to be playing host to legendary art-pop provocateurs Deaf School here at Future Yard, as part of a small tour as the group reconvene to play a handful of shows in Merseyside.

Formed by members of Liverpool Art School in the middle of the 70s, Deaf School went on to underpin a period of New Wave experimentalism in music that was hugely influential on a generation of Liverpool’s finest art minds. Centred around the famous Eric’s club, the group fused theatrics and artistic ideas with a freeform approach to music, all shot through with punk sensibilities. Long regarded as one of Liverpool’s great bands, commercial success eluded them – but artistic success didn’t, and Deaf School’s reputation as visionaries remains.
