We are looking to recruit a HEAD BOOKER to our team delivering our wide range of live music events at our venue on Argyle Street, Birkenhead.

Working within our Live Department you will programme and curate live music events, with a particular focus on working with booking agents to secure national and international touring artists. You will have a deep passion for new music and be immersed and well connected within it.

Showcasing the best new music is at the heart of why Future Yard exists. It will be your job to ensure the most exciting new and established talent – across a range of genres and styles – is playing the venue; whether that be as part of national tours, standalone shows, on our festival or all-dayer bills or our underage matinée shows.

Future Yard values diversity and the importance of representation on and off stage. You will be responsible for ensuring that there is balance and inclusion in Future Yard’s programming. You will help us provide a platform for marginalised bands/artists and fulfil our ongoing KeyChange pledge of a 50/50 gender split.

This is a unique opportunity to join the team at one of the UK’s most exciting new music venues. Since fully opening in the summer of 2021, we have played host to artists such as Gruff Rhys, OMD, Black Country, New Road, Nubiyan Twist, Shame, Melt Yourself Down, Bodega, Steve Mason, Arab Strap and many more, with a programme encompassing the best in contemporary alternative, jazz, electronic and experimental music.

Future Yard is committed to providing a range of pathways for local young people to develop the skills needed to embark on careers within the live music industry. You will be passionate about passing on your skills to the next generation and embrace the culture of exchange and skill sharing on which Future Yard is built.

As a member of the Future Yard family you will benefit from a range of bonuses, including: free entry to all Future Yard shows, training and social events, our cycle to work scheme, paid training, ongoing development opportunities and a brilliant range of staff discounts.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about the regional music scene. You may be early in your music career – equally you may be experienced and seeking a new challenge – but, most importantly, you will be deeply passionate about live music and Future Yard’s mission.

You will have good established connections within the live music industry, particularly with booking agencies, and you will have experience of booking live music events, whether independently, in-house at a venue or within another organisation. Your experience may well be in another area of the live music sector, but your contacts and know-how will be directly transferable to this role.

You will have a broad musical perspective and appreciation for a range of genres, reflecting the range of musical styles and perspectives that Future Yard showcases. You’ll have an eclectic and varied musical taste and an intimate knowledge of the UK live music scene; for example its artists, venues, promoters and festivals.

You will be at the heart of a small, passionate team working in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone with excellent organisational skills, who can manage and prioritise their workload independently, while communicating clearly and effectively with the team, colleagues, artists and partners.

We are particularly looking for an individual who shares Future Yard’s values and is/has:

  • Experience of promoting or programming live music events.
  • An intimate knowledge of the UK live music scene and be actively engaged in it.
  • A broad musical perspective and appreciation for a range of genres.
  • Great team working skills, flexibility and an appetite to continually develop.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • You will be a well organised, disciplined self-starter.
