BAR + COFFEE SHOP

Future Yard open seven days a week.
As well as being your friendly neighbourhood music venue, we’re also your friendly neighbourhood bar + coffee shop. And we’re open indoors (and outdoors, if the weather’s nice!) every day. Now it’s even easier for you to join us for a drink or a bite to eat, without the need for constantly watching weather forecasts!
We’re open 7 days a week, 10am to 11pm (later on Fridays and Saturday). So there’s plenty of chance for you to get a taste of the full Future Yard experience. If you’ve already been here to see us then you’ll have seen the lush greenery that adorns the space – so you’ll already have an idea of how relaxing the space is going to be for an afternoon latte or a few pints of Yard Pilsner as the sun sets over Birkenhead.
Serving a full range of coffee, beers and cocktails, our indoor bar area has ample space to welcome you. We’ll have DJs setting the vibe on Friday and Saturday nights from the raised indoor booth and a great range of vegan and vegetarian food.
Our Garden will still be accessible during the autumn and winter, for those who want to go outside – but our garden bar is only used for special events. You can still order food and drink from the front bar and take it outside if you want, but we’ve got plenty of seating in the warm indoors! We’re now able to host shows at full capacity in our live room, and we’re so looking forward to hearing that crank back into action again. You can find all of our live listings here – and they’re all up on the listings board in the bar area.
We have updated our COVID-19 operating proceedings to keep things as safe as possible with the lifting of restrictions. Please read all of these details here.

POURING
- A superb range of local craft beers and brews, from the likes of Glen Affric, Chapter Brewing, Black Lodge, Cloudwater, Top Rope, Neptune Brewing.
- Great coffee from incredible roasteries working closely with farmers, and teas made with 100% natural ingredients.
- An extensive range of soft drinks and fruit presses.
- Refreshing cocktails.
We’re keeping our suppliers as close to home as possible. Partly because of our commitment to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible, but also because there are so many incredible independent brewers, roasters and bakers on our doorstep!
Glen Affric are a craft brewery situated a stone’s throw from Future Yard, and have been brewing award-winning beers from their Birkenhead home for the past five years. We’ve teamed up with them on our house beer, Yard Pilsner – a classic pilsner with a biscuit malt body and zesty citrus layers. Black Lodge are based in the Baltic Triangle and specialise in adventurous and distinctive brews; and Chapter Brewing are experts in hopcraft and storytelling, which they produce from their base in Sutton Weaver in Cheshire. We’ll be mixing up our beers regularly, so you’ll have to check back in to see what’s on offer. Or have a look at the Currently Pouring board in the bar whenever you’re inside with us.
Our coffee will be served fresh from a gleaming new La Marzocco machine (😍) which puts out some of the most beautifully consistent espresso you can get. Our house espresso is currently a blend of Brazilian and Guatemalan by the brilliant Axis Coffee. Chris from Axis has been working in coffee for 12 years; since starting Axis, he has a tree planted for every bag bought, and all their coffees are bought with an additional premium on on top, which is donated to social initiatives in their +20% Programme. We’ll be getting the best milk in from local dairy Peckforton Farm, while Bates Dairy will be supplying us with an oat milk alternative. Almond and coconut milk varieties are also on offer (Alpro). Filter coffee is available as batch brew, Chemex, or Aeropress. Currently we have two filters by our neighbours just through the tunnel, Neighbourhood Cofffee, and we’ll be updating our guest filters on a regular basis.
Now serving some refreshing cocktails, perfect to enjoy on weekend evenings when enjoying the hustle and bustle on Argyle Street, with some great selectors playing in the bar. Here at Future Yard we try and offer you something different, something you haven’t experienced before, and nowhere is this more evident than on our cocktail list, whether it be a modern twist on a traditional classic with our Phoney Negroni (Four Roses Yellow Label Bourbon instead of Gin), a culmination of Future Yard fan favourites with Schofferita (El Jimador Tequila Blanco, Lime, Blood Orange + Schofferhoffer Grapefruit) or something that’s just really strong like Cardigan Scenario (J&B Rare Scotch Whisky, Lemon, Sipsmith Sloe Gin, Session IPA) we’ve got a full array of exciting cocktails for you to enjoy. Fun for all the family (as long as that family is all over 18 of course)
For the easy goers, drivers and people just chilling, we’re stocked up with a massive range of teas, fruit presses and soft drinks – because not everyone wants a caffeine or alcohol hit in the sun. Our range of teas comes from ZIGZAG, so you can sip on an Earl Grey, a zesty Yunnan Green or a good old fashioned English Breakfast tea. Punchy produce a range of characterful, natural punches that will still give you a little boost – and a percentage of proceeds from each sale are donated to charities through Punchy’s brilliant sustainability arm. We’ll also have kombuchas and iced teas to pick from – and for those who want a halfway house, Schöfferhofer’s 2.5% ABV grapefruit wheat beer will be served on draught.
SERVING
- A great menu of vegan and vegetarian food, served from our brand new kitchen by foodie experts Hardy’s.
We want to serve a range of food for you to eat on the go, while relaxing with a cuppa, or before you head inside for a gig. In keeping with our environmental sustainability pledge, all of our food offers are vegan and vegetarian, sourced from some brilliant local providers.
Hardy’s have years of experience in creating bespoke, tantalising menus, and we’re made up that they’ll be serving up all of our food offer at Future Yard. Their Big Dub Of Love food truck has been serving up some incredible plates from their position in the Garden already this summer, and we’re made up to be extending that offer indoors as well now that our new indoor kitchen is up and running. We’ve updated our menu for the winter months, offering even more tasty plant-based treats for you all. Now with three different burgers (don’t worry, the Dub Mac is still around) to new and improved cauliflower ‘wings’ as well as old favourites like the Tandoori bowl and Halloumi fries, your mouth will (still) be in for a real treat.
Kids are welcome, so long as they’re with big kids (18+)! We’re a family-friendly environment, and we have high chairs and baby-changing facilities. We’ll also be stocking some lovely child-friendly drinks and food options.
